Academics

Academics
Our rigorous classes cover the standard Ethiopian National Curriculum and prepare students for outstanding results on the national exams and for further study at the best colleges and universities in the world.
Because we are a residential school, we have a schedule that allows students to go into greater depth in the subjects they study. The residential program also means that students are supported by faculty outside class times and have access to a wide range of additional resources. Students also develop close relationships with each other, with peer-to-peer learning being an important part of our programming.
Assignments require students to work both independently and collaboratively, to understand methods of inquiry that promote divergent thinking and creativity, and to embrace uncertainty as an opportunity for innovation.
Students take regular tests to assess knowledge. They also frequently complete projects that apply their knowledge in concrete ways and present these projects to each other and experts from within and outside the school community.
Curriculum
We meet and build on Ethiopian National Curriculum standards and prepare our students for outstanding results on the national exams and further study at the best colleges and universities in the world.
Technology
We are a one-to-one iPad school. Technology is integrated into all classes, and each classroom is equipped with an Apple TV and white board.
We offer classes and clubs in our fully equipped Design Lab and Robotics Center.
On Sunday May 26, over 500 people—students, their families, faculty, staff, invited dignitaries, guests and friends of HMA—gathered on our campus to celebrate two major milestones: the graduation of our pioneering first class of seniors, and our official school “opening”.
A long time in the making, this was the rarest of days—a celebration of purposeful hard work and challenges overcome, a day of pure joy and near perfection.
